LibVLC
Windows distributions from TorrentDeck 0.1.4 onward that include the built-in player use VideoLAN LibVLC, copyright
VideoLAN and the VLC authors, under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later.
The player dynamically links to separate DLLs and playback plugins through JNA.
The libraries prepared for TorrentDeck 0.1.5 are built from source with the media-playback-v3 codec profile.
Playback includes H.264, HEVC, VP9, AV1, VP8, Theora, MPEG-4 ASP and MPEG-2 video, and AAC,
Opus, MP3, FLAC, Vorbis, PCM, ALAC, AC-3, E-AC-3, DTS/DTS-HD, TrueHD, MP2 and WMA audio.
FFmpeg encoders, muxers and streaming output are disabled.
Read the included LGPL 2.1 license, VLC authors, and TorrentDeck distribution notice. These notices also accompany the installed runtime. The official LGPL text explains the complete conditions.
Your license rights
You may replace the separately distributed LibVLC libraries and plugins with modified, ABI-compatible versions for your own use. You may modify the combined work for your own use and reverse engineer it to debug those modifications to the extent required by LGPL section 6. These rights take precedence over conflicting application terms.
The application and each dependency remain subject to their respective licenses. This notice does not promise compatibility with every replacement library or grant rights to the TorrentDeck or VideoLAN trademarks.
Source downloads
Download the LibVLC and dependency source bundle (ZIP).
The bundle contains the original VLC and selected dependency source archives, license notices,
codec profile, patches, build recipes and Windows build instructions. It also records the
effective build configuration and native binary hashes. The included native-source-audit.json maps the selected
native modules to source files, dependency archives and their license evidence.
The runtime distribution manifest records the selected binaries, source versions and hashes. The source bundle includes build configuration and compiler metadata; bit-for-bit reproducibility is not claimed. Keep the source bundle matching your installer when redistributing it and follow each applicable license.
Previous distributions
TorrentDeck 0.1.4 uses the media-playback-v2 profile. Its
corresponding source bundle
and runtime distribution manifest
remain available for that installer.
Dependency credits
The Windows player uses FreeType. Portions of the included playback components contain software copyrighted by The FreeType Project. FreeType is distributed under the FreeType License (FTL); see the FreeType licensing information and the complete copyright notices and license included in the source bundle.
Other playback dependencies carry their own licenses and copyright notices. Read the included dependency notices for the selected runtime. The selected VLC source notices preserve the copyright and license headers recorded by the native source audit. License information is also available in the application settings. A source bundle and this notice do not replace checking all license conditions when changing or redistributing the runtime.
The additional FLAC, Vorbis, PCM, ALAC, VP8 and Theora decoders use FFmpeg's implementations in the LGPL build; this package does not add the standalone libFLAC, libvorbis, libvpx, libtheora or Apple ALAC libraries. The corresponding FFmpeg sources, notices and build configuration are included in the source bundle. Codec names do not determine the software license, and open-source licenses do not provide a blanket patent license.
Some native components include GCC runtime code licensed under GNU GPL version 3 with the GCC Runtime Library Exception, version 3.1. That exception permits qualifying compiled programs, including proprietary programs, to use the covered runtime code under their own licenses. It does not change the license of the TorrentDeck application; the conditions of the GPL and exception continue to apply to the covered runtime components. Read the included GNU GPL version 3 and GCC Runtime Library Exception.
